This plant originating from Mexico has a sweet and fresh taste, so it is spread to the Asian region and is able to thrive throughout the Asian region which has a tropical climate. In Indonesia alone dragon fruit began to be popular recently in 2000. And more and more fans have been cultivated by fruit farmers to date sporadically.
There are several types of dragon fruit that can be cultivated because they have economic value, have sweet taste and are rich in benefits, which include:
• Dragon fruit type Hylocereus undatus which has the characteristics of red skin with white flesh.
• Dragon fruit of the type Hylocereus polyrhisus which has a characteristic red skin with red flesh
• Dragon fruit type Hylocereus costaricensis which has red skin characteristics with purplish red flesh
• Dragon fruit type Hylocereus megalanthus which has a characteristic yellow skin with white flesh
How to Cultivate Dragon Fruit
The way to cultivate dragon fruit is almost the same for all types of fruit. There are two ways that can be done to cultivate dragon fruit, which include the generative cera with seeds, and vegetative methods that can be done with stem cuttings. But to speed up the process of growth and fertilization, the vegetative method is felt to be easier and more profitable. The resistance of dragon fruit cultivation is as follows:
• Nurseries
The nursery process by pressing can be done in the following ways:
 Choose stems that are about 8 cm in diameter and bear fruit 3-4 times, and the older the parent plant the better it will be used as the main stem
 Cut the stems approximately 80-120 cm or about 80% of the stem of the plant to be used as prospective seedlings.
 Cut back the prospective stem with a size of 20-30 cm with the tip cut flat and the base of the cut to make it to accelerate root growth.
 The pieces of the stem that will be used as seedlings must have at least 4 buds to produce fruit quickly.
 Then allow the stem to dry out, and before planting it can be dipped in a functionide solution beforehand.
Am Plant dragon fruit seeds on beds or polybags with planting media that has been mixed with goat manure and has been watered with a depth of 5 cm.
 Do watering the seeds regularly 2-3 days. And to protect seeds from direct sunlight provide shade or hoods.
 After 3 weeks or after the shoots grow, open the shade and let the plant be exposed to full sunlight.
 After 3 months or after the seedling height of 50-80 cm the plant seeds can begin to be moved.
• Land preparation
Cultivation of dragon fruit can be planted in the ground or with polybag media. But for maximum results, planting should be done on land. in the following way:
• Making climbing poles
Making poles in the cultivation of dragon fruit is very important as a plant support. This climbing pole can be made with concrete with a diameter of 10-15 cm and a height of 2-2.5 m. Insert the support pole in a 50 cm deep hole with the tip of the pole given an iron or wooden + support. And finally add a circle-shaped buffer above it. Create these support poles in a row with a length of 2.5 m and the distance between the poles ranges from 3 m. And between these lines drainage is made.
• Soil treatment
For planting media, you can make beds by mixing sand, soil, compost or manure with a composition of 1: 1: 1. Next add with lime or dolomite about 300 gr to add calcium to the soil. Next make a hole with a depth of 25 cm around the support post. close the planting hole with the planting media then flush until the soil is wet and leave it to dry. After 3 days add TSp fertilizer around the climbing pole and leave it for one day, and your land is ready for planting.
• Planting
Once the seeds and land are ready, planting seeds can begin. You can plant up to 4 plant seeds for each climbing pole with a distance of 10 cm from the climbing pole. After the planting is complete, then tie the plant stems until all the seeds are pasted on the climbing pole.
In order for dragon fruit cultivation to grow quickly and bear fruit, routine care must be taken, which include:
• Pollination
Pollination of plants can occur in two ways, namely naturally and manually. To speed up the results of fertilization, manual pollination can indeed be done, but this manual pollination also cannot be done originally. Manual pollination can be done when the flower crown has fully blossomed to get the perfect fruit. You can pollinate by applying pollen to the pistil using it
